Netherlands – Dutch design studio Toer has created Fiet, a lighting sculpture that responds to the sounds around it.
Product and interior designers are drawing inspiration from the natural world, creating emotional and kinetic installations and products for indoor spaces, as we reported in our Kinetic Nature micro Inspire.
Fiet is constructed from hundreds of cones that expand and contract based on the surrounding sound. When it is quiet, the sculpture moves slowly, and when there are loud or sudden noises the installation begins to shake, as though it is angry or stressed. This gives it an emotional aesthetic, sensitive and responsive to what is happening around it.
