Global – Hyundai has explored resource circulation and mobility in a captivating short film from production design studio Universal Everything.

  • Many people will recognise Universal Everything’s Running Man from its iconic animation for MTV
  • This time the shape-shifting avatar is back bringing life to Hyundai’s steel recycling facility

The Universal Everything team spent time at Hyundai’s facility in South Korea to understand how the steel from its cars is melted down and used again to make new vehicles. ‘They have absolute control over the whole process,’ Universal Everything founder Matt Pyke tells LS:N Global. ‘All the steel is re-used with little waste going into the environment.’

This never-ending process of resource circulation is expressed through human movement as the Running Man is transformed from molten steel to solid metal using Hollywood-grade visual effects.

The effect is hypnotic, capturing attention in some of the world’s busiest places, including New York’s Times Square. ‘Everything tries to be brighter and bolder,’ says Pyke. ‘We wanted to create something minimal and meditative to cut through the noise and give people time for pause and reflection.’
