Paris – Paris Menswear Fashion Week opened with a bang with the relaunch of the Thierry Mugler brand as Mugler, much to the delight of those who came away from Milan feeling underwhelmed.
The label, now in the hands of creative director Nicola Formichetti, presented its autumn/winter 2011 collection in a large garage on the rue de Turenne alongside a film made by photographer-filmmaker Mariano Vivanco played to a soundtrack by Lady Gaga.
The collection was dark and directional, but wearable. Think skinheads meet Batman, with interesting hybrids of suit jackets with quilted inserts, and knitted jumpers with long leather skirt panels.
