Global – Retailer Kit and Ace is inviting local artists to take residence in its stores around the world.
From London to New York, Vancouver to Honolulu, artists such as Andy Dixon, Maya Lea Portner and Tom Butler are being connected to new audiences with Kit and Ace’s artist-in-residence scheme. All proceeds from artworks sold in-store go directly to the artists, with the retailer taking no commission.
According to the company website, The Wall is a way for Kit and Ace to give back to local creators – ‘a group of knowledge-based innovators who are the problem-solvers, problem-seekers, initiators and starters of the world’.
The Big Picture: Brands such as Everlane are adopting a radically transparent approach to retail, bringing artists, business owners, industry experts and the local community together.
