03 : 12 : 2015 Parenting Tips : Millennial Mums : Dad's 2.0

Australia – Lunch Lady is a parenting magazine that treats mothers and fathers like people with diverse interests, not just as caretakers of children.

  • The magazine features down-to-earth opinion pieces about how to raise children
  • The publishers want readers to have a laugh and keep things in perspective

Lunch Lady is a fun alternative to the traditional parenting magazine designed by and for Millennial parents who are looking for a creatively led publication.

Instead of the usual tips on how to be a better mother or on raising a perfect family, readers of Lunch Lady can enjoy humorous articles on parenting, appreciate beautiful photography and illustrations, and discover new recipes that will keep children happy from Monday to Friday.

‘Our ethos is to have fun with parenting,’ says Louise Bannister, editorial director of Lunch Lady. ‘Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in to do lists. We wanted to create a warm, inclusive and inspiring space.’

Both Bannister and creative director Lara Burke previously worked at fashion magazine Frankie. Together with editor Kate Berry they decided they wanted to create something a little more grown up that still speaks to them as people not just as parents.

The Big Picture

Traditional maternal and paternal roles are blurring. Magazines such as Lunch Lady and Fathers are reaching out to a new tribe of modern mothers and fathers
