London – Dover Street Market has completed its biannual transformation, or Tachiagari, during which the store closes for several days while builders, designers and artists renovate its four floors.
A classically minimalist Japanese theme remains in areas curated by fashion designers Hussein Chalayan and egg as well as in the Paco Rabanne window display, while a series of industrial structures and bare brick walls give some floors a Flexthetics feel.
Artist Michael Samuels has lent art pieces for the Sneaker Space in the form of large wooden drawers. Rei Kawakubo has complemented this design with her Construction Interrupted space, a mix of wooden frames, MDF walls and a battered corrugated iron shed.
