The best of 2010: The top three interior Seeds of the year

UK, USA, Japan – My favourite Seeds in the interior sector cover a well thought-out journey, a temporary pop-up luxury store and a charcoal-inspired Unagi shop.

Late Night Chameleon Café in London, better known as LN-CC, is a carefully curated space in which shoppers are taken on a journey of discovery. I expect more retailers to consider a well-narrated space in their interior store layouts and how consumers can interact with products. For more about the LN-CC store, read our Innovate article.

The Momentary Project in New York by Campaign design is my favourite pop-up store of many that have appeared this year. Campaign shows how luxury can be luxurious without costing too much.

The recently redesigned Unagi store in Yanagawa by Toru Shimokawa of STAD looks to the traditional method of cooking eels using charcoal as his visual drive for the interior. I like the aesthetic reference to charcoal and the use of burnt and carbonised cedar to achieve this effect.

Every day from 20 December until the end of the year, the LS:N Global team is choosing its favourite stories from 2010. We will resume normal service on Tuesday 4 January 2011.
