London – As part of The Campaign for Wool, supported by the Prince of Wales, Savile Row has some new ovine tenants. The street, famous for being the centre of excellence in bespoke tailoring, has been covered in grass for sheep to graze on and wooden huts have been erected. And to make sure the sheep do not escape onto the streets of Mayfair, a pair of farmers, dressed in bespoke tweed suits from Gieves & Hawkes and Anderson & Sheppard, are on hand.
To kick off the campaign the Savile Row Field Day, organised by Savile Row Bespoke, a collective of Savile Row tailors, included various hands-on experiences, such as Norton & Sons using Cornish organic wool to demonstrate how its shooting socks are made.
This is a great example of how brands can come together to show off their trade, as well as inviting consumers into a live experience. We expect to see more of these as the Rurban Revolution takes off.
