About face: Custom skincare kit gets up close and personal

London – Beauty is now in the hand of the beholder, with a new bespoke facial kit from skincare brand Aesop and Wallpaper* magazine. The Brandtocratic collaboration between the two likeminded companies – their well-read, lifestyle-savvy customers share an affinity for under-the-radar luxury – was borne out of the magazine’s Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition, held in collaboration with Italian fashion house Brioni at the recent Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Besides bottles of cleansing oil and antioxidant serum, the facial kit also contains three vials of raw-ingredient boosters to help recover, protect and calm stressed skin. Users can mix and match components at will, using the included spoon and mortar to customise a treatment based on their skincare needs. ‘They’ll be able to boost their skin with what they might be lacking through lifestyle factors such as flying or a lack of sleep,’ says Indi Davis, Aesop’s Europe marketing coordinator.

Going beyond flatpacks and garden sheds, DIY is now in the bathroom cabinet.

Aesop makes smart collaborations part of its brand strategy. Read our interview with founder Dennis Paphitis to learn more about it.
