Taipei, Taiwan – Designed for the Xue Xue Institute, a cultural and creative centre in Taipei, the packaging of Citrus Moon reflects its Oriental background as well as the products within, orange-flavoured mooncakes.
Mooncakes are an Asian pastry delicacy typically eaten during the mid-autumn harvest moon festival, which encompasses lunar worship and moon watching. Citrus Moon is a gift to commemorate the festival, with a design that is slick and respectful of tradition. The sliding sleeve of the box represents the waxing and waning of the moon, and its roundness reflects the shape of an orange, the flavour of the baked goods inside.
‘Each mooncake represents different lunar phases paired with the corresponding poetic Chinese phrases,’ says the designer Tsan-Yu Yin
