Italy – Parma-based company nu_be has developed a range of perfumes designed to reflect and explore the origins of the earth.
People are increasingly interested in science and the earth, and brands are capitalising on this by incorporating science into their products and collaborating with scientists, as reported in our Re-enlightenment Rising Toolkit.
The collection comprises five fragrances – Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Carbon and Oxygen – based on the elements that make up the world.
The Hydrogen scent features sensual spices and wood and vanilla notes, suggesting the idea of heat, while Oxygen has woody, spicy notes that enhance the idea of Oxygen’s coolness and freshness. Helium has a heady scent with its mix of iris and Italian bergamot, Lithium’s mix of oils, musk and rose reflects its lightweight nature, while the Carbon fragrance is a strong combination of cardamom, ginger and black pepper, demonstrating its toughness.
Each fragrance comes in a grey polystyrene case that has to be physically broken to reveal the bottle underneath, creating a sense of the earth’s crust being broken to reveal elements and fossils hidden beneath the surface.
