Tokyo – Comme des Garçons has opened a new concept store focusing on long-life design in association with Japanese homeware retailer D&Department Project.
The 1,075-square-foot retail space, called Good Design Shop, features raw concrete floors, round white display fixtures and tall glass shelves for a warehouse feel.
The interior follows LS:N Global’s Flexthetics design trend.
The products encapsulate the theme of long-life design, where core products never go out of style. In-store there is a mix of contemporary design objects such as glassware, bath towels and storage solutions. Also available are vintage collections from the Comme des Garçons archive and special items such as janitors’ coats and staff smock coats from 1986 printed with the brand’s logo.
This archival approach to celebrating brand heritage is explored in our Revivalism macro trend report.
