London – A new self-published magazine highlights the work of skilled creatives who are producing inspiring works.
The launch issue of Make.Do. focuses on the work of architect Misha Smith, independent publishers Ditto Press, founder of Feather Cycles Ricky Feather and knitwear designer Lynn Cockburn. Rather than focusing on the final product, Make.Do. highlights the production process and working practices of each of the designers’ disparate mediums.
‘I started Make.Do. as a way of documenting people who I thought were doing something creative and unique that they were very passionate about,’ art director Michael Knight tells LS:N Global. ‘Although there is an artisanal or craft element linking those featured, what interests me most about those who we looked at and those who we hope to look at in the future is a sense of DIY, which ultimately is what I find the most inspiring thing about them.’
Today’s consumers want to see behind the scenes, to meet the maker and to connect with the objects they desire. For more examples, see our Revivalism macro trend.
