London – Jermyn Street, the iconic menswear destination, has a new resident, Joseph Cheaney & Sons, a luxury men's footwear brand.
The flagship store, by contemporary design consultants Checkland Kindleysides, draws on Joseph Cheaney & Sons’ distinguished 120-year heritage.
Checkland Kindleysides’ concept for the store is a modern take on Cheaney’s Northamptonshire factory, which the company has been running and operating from since 1886.
The store is divided into two distinct areas: the front echoes Cheaney’s factory with references to the skill and craftmanship that goes into making each shoe, complete with a 1:100 scale model. The second evokes the aura of a boardroom, including portraits of the company’s founders which hang on the wall keeping an eye on proceedings.
