Time to design: Designers race against the clock

London – Designer Sebastian Wrong could be seen frantically finishing a piece of work this afternoon at the Mayfair gallery of design manufacturer Established & Sons. Wrong had been commissioned to create a piece from scratch, in just one day, as part of the Design Against the Clock exhibition for London Design Week.

In a mini-production studio installed on to a stage in the gallery, Wrong cut, planed, glued and printed pieces of wood to make a final piece that will be revealed this evening. Tomorrow, and each day for the rest of the week, a different designer will rush to complete a new piece – expect to see design duo Committee, Gavin Turk and Tord Boontje.

The idea of ‘live’ production, as a way to demonstrate artistry, will be a key theme in the forthcoming LS:N Global Trend Briefing.

LS:N Global will report on key exhibitions and shows from London Design Festival throughout this week.
