London – Hotel shops have come a long way from the traditional souvenir emporium. Popping up in the Front Room of the St Martins Lane hotel in central London is the first temporary store by British design company Established & Sons.
The new pop-up follows on from the hotel’s Room Service project earlier this year, during which Andrew Ibi’s fashion shop Convenience Store moved temporarily to a location beside the hotel’s entrance. The Established & Sons shop aims to give visitors and guests another fix of London design, from furniture to lighting, from now until the end of September. Items on sale include ‘Zero-In’ tables by Barber Osgerby; Sebastian Wrong’s signature ‘Font Clock’ plus his ‘Convex Mirror’ and ‘Buggs’ light; ‘Two Timer’ clocks by Sam Hecht’s Industrial Facility design studio; and the ‘Torch Light’ series by Sylvain Willenz. Hotels are capitalising on their design appeal, setting up shop, and attracting more than just guests and diners through their doors.
