Montreal – Design studio Daily Tous Les Jours has created a musical swing installation that enables people to play melodies using the swings.
Installations like this are increasingly used to produce something and to celebrate things such as people working together or the heritage of a place, as we reported in our Seed on Swing.
The installation, in the centre of Montreal, comprises 21 swings, each of which triggers a selection of notes that play when in use. When multiple swings are used at the same time whole melodies can be created.
The piece is designed to bring people together to explore the possibilities of collaborative play.
The musical swings are part of the Making Our City Together exhibition at the 2013 Saint-Étienne International Design Biennial, which runs from 14 to 31 March 2013.
