London – A new temporary studio offers budding musicians the opportunity to create their own music track and video as part of a new audio and visual installation.
Youth Music Box, a project by music and graphics experts Silent Studios in collaboration with artist Chris O’Shea, will set up on the South Bank from 17 July through 31 August, and will allow novices to play like musical maestros, thanks to the technological wizardry involved in the open-to-the-public recording studio.
With the publishing side of the music industry still struggling to create an effective business model, new ways to approach the audio experience are being explored, as outlined in our Music 3.0 report. Youth Music Box demonstrates how this experience can be taken into the streets and handed to the people, in essence democratising the music studio.
