London – Offering much more than a drink at the bar and a slap-up meal, a new restaurant in the capital is taking a leaf out of the books of the growing number of members-only clubs.
Lutyens, which opened this week on Fleet Street, boasts a bar, restaurant, sushi bar, members’ club, and private dining and meeting rooms – a perfect location for our Bleisure workers needing a space to entertain, work and relax. The location, the latest project by Prescott & Conran Ltd, joins Sir Terence Conran and Peter Prescott’s previous venture, Boundary, as yet another multifunctional hospitality space. ‘I think we have created a restaurant that might tempt a few journalists back to Fleet Street and get the bankers out of their bunkers and spending again,’ Sir Terence says.
As we approach a post-recessionary climate, big-name restaurants are going beyond table service in their attempts to woo customers. These indulgent retreats add a new purpose to going out for a meal.
