Each designer will present two prototype light bulbs, one that will be put into production and sold following Design Week and a limited-edition, experimental piece.

Nacho Carbonell will present a bulb made from squeezable rubber. The durable nature of the material makes the bulb unbreakable and can be easily manipulated during the design process. Front also used unconventional materials in its designs, creating a lamp made from soap bubbles.

Formafantasma will continue its exploration of plastic with a bulb shaped like a leaf and a second, limited edition bulb made from insect excrement. The design is a continuation of the studio’s Botanica project.
