Tokyo – Japanese design agency Information Architects (iA) has released its Writer app for the Apple Macintosh. Previously available for the iPad, Writer is a digital writing tool with a stripped-down interface that enables the user to concentrate on the writing.
Writer’s decluttered interface has minimal settings. ‘All you can do is write,’ claims iA. A Focus Mode tool lets the user concentrate on writing one sentence at a time, while the app automatically formats semantical entities including headlines, lists and bold text written in markdown.
LS:N Global has previously reported on the Writer app for iPad in our Intuitive Futures report. Like the iPad app, the Mac Writer is a good example of a product that responds to consumers’ feelings of stuffocation by using the principle of cognitive fluency to streamline and simplify their lives.
