San Francisco – Design consultancy Manual has created an innovative print publication that celebrates the creative talent in the city.
The Loose Leaf publication is a series of unbound prints that can be hung on pegs or shuffled and rearranged according to taste. The first edition features work that is inspired by the city and showcases the work of artists and designers from various fields.
The premise of the project is to present images in a physical, tangible form that provides a departure from the online and digital reproductions of visual material.
‘We spend so much time discovering great work online and hitting the ‘bookmark’ button but never really experience a connection to the work in a more physical way,’ says Tom Crabtree, creative director of Manual. ‘In a sense, Loose Leaf is bookmarking in a permanent way.’
