London – Putting the rest back in restaurant, a number of new dining spots around the world are offering much more than a standard eatery experience. These new spaces accommodate diners not just at the table, but for the whole night. Boundary in Shoreditch, East London, is one such example: it is a multifunctional space that combines three restaurants and bars with 17 guest rooms, a bakery and a food store.
The new venture, which offers diners the chance to become guests for the night shortly after cleaning their plates, is a joint project by Terence and Vicki Conran and hotelier and restaurant consultant Peter Prescott. Each of the guest rooms boasts an individual design inspired by a famous designer or design movement, such as Charles and Ray Eames or the utilitarian Shaker. Now there’s no need to call a cab home if you find yourself having overindulged in the cocktail menu.
