Linz, Austria – In an interactive light installation for the ARS Electronica Festival, passers-by can paint a building with the help of their smartphones.
Project iRiS was developed jointly by the University of Munich and the University of Saarbrücken in Germany for the ARS Electronica Festival in Linz. After loading the application users choose a colour and touch an image of the festival building on their phone, which instantly triggers the light on the building itself. Users can also solve a jigsaw puzzle displayed on the façade.
This is a great example of how brands can engage with consumers, as explored in depth in our Brandtocracies report. Imagine if this was a billboard and passers-by could finish it off by adding colour.
