Design Dubai: Al Sabah Art & Design Collection previews at Design Miami

#239 / 0

Miami – Western audiences will get a glimpse into the Middle Eastern art and design world when a new gallery from Dubai previews its collection at Design Miami next month.

Founded by Sheik Majed Al Sabah, founder of the Villa Moda luxury boutique villages in the Middle East, the Al Sabah Art & Design Collection aims to promote the craftsmanship of the region to a new audience.

The preview in Miami offers a sneak peek at the collection before the gallery opens in Dubai in March 2009, and features new limited-edition work from artists and designers such as Maarten Baas, Marcel Wanders, and Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel at Studio Job. The works have been created in collaboration with Emirati art talent for the show.

The gallery is testament to the changing cultural environment in the Middle East – a topic explored in depth in our forthcoming Middle East market insight.
