Light therapy

17 : 03 : 2017 ZeroFat IR1 : The Optimised Self : Wellness

UK – The ZeroFat iR1 exercise system uses light therapy to promote weight loss and boost collagen levels.

  • The technology uses infrared light to raise users’ body temperature
  • It enables users to burn calories 44% faster, according to the brand

The iR1 combines light therapy and low-impact cardiovascular exercise to enable users to improve their skin heath as they work out. The device is aimed at ‘elite professionals with an interest in combining beauty, wellbeing, fitness and lifestyle’.

The infrared light emitted by the device raises users’ body temperature to boost collagen levels, reduce the appearance of fine lines and cellulite, and increase the radiance and clarity of the skin.

According to the brand, users can burn up to 800 calories in one 45-minute session – the equivalent of running a half marathon.

The global weight loss and weight management market is expected to be worth £167bn ($206.4bn, €192.4bn) by 2019, according to SeeThruEquity, and brands are developing services that use advanced technology to cater for this growing market. ‘Light therapy has been tipped as the trend for 2017,’ a ZeroFat spokesperson explains to LS:N Global. ‘We live in an age in which people are body-conscious and time-poor, and want better results more quickly.’
