Global – Dating app Tinder is now available on Apple TV.

  • The app encourages friends and family to become a part of the experience
  • Tinder is responsible for 26m matches in 196 countries every day

With the aim to bring the swiping experience of the app to the living room, it streams in HD and uses Apple TV’s new swipeable remote control. You can swipe left or right as normal with the remote control, and Tinder Plus subscribers can shake the remote control to rewind.

The initiative has been released alongside a collection of humorous videos in which an entire family get involved with the dating app. In the press release, the focus is on encouraging friends and family to become a part of the experience.

‘Bringing people together is what we do,’ says the press release. ‘And we’re even more excited to be able to combine all the joys of swiping with all the comforts of home.’ According to Tinder, the app reaches 1.6bn swipes and 26m matches per day in 196 countries. The app is available from the App Store worldwide.

The Big Picture

Tinder's success is driven by the fact that it's a socially acceptable dating service. Bringing it to a family environment like the living room only heightens that. For more on Tinder, read our Swipe Left opinion piece.
