London – With growing numbers of travellers expressing a desire for hit-the-ground-running authenticity while abroad, bespoke travel agency Black Tomato will launch its Live Like a Local initiative this week. The programme is currently set up to run in Paris, Delhi, Stockholm and Cape Town, with more cities to be added to the list.
Hitting all the home-away-from-home sweet spots, Live Like a Local guests check into a city-centre apartment to find a fridge packed with local groceries, a mobile phone programmed with numbers of the best restaurants, and membership to a local gym. A Little Black Tomato Book on the coffee table guides the traveller to the city’s best bars, delis, marketplaces and boutiques. A local contact is on hand 24 hours a day to field questions, make recommendations and generally help visitors ease into their new local.
Living like a local means never having to say you’re sorry you turned up to the same ‘off-the-beaten-path’ café, where everyone’s got the same travel guide on the table.
