New York – How many pens have you lost in your lifetime? Unfortunately, they will be lying around for a while, since conventional pens take up to 400 years to biodegrade.
Happily, there is a new solution; design agency DBA has made the first ever 98%-biodegradable pen.
The black, minimalistic pen is made from plastic produced from renewable plant starches and is the first pen to utilise ecologically responsible inner components, such as water-based ink.
The pen is produced at a wind-powered facility in the US and is designed as a responsible alternative to the wasteful, often toxic pens we use almost every day; so next time you lose your pen, you know it will disappear harmlessly.
