Carpet creativity

31 : 08 : 2015 Sydney Indesign : Beautiful Thinking : Interface

Sydney – Global carpet tile brand Interface invited six multidisciplinary designers to create an immersive showroom for the 2015 Sydney Indesign festival.

  • Examines the power of space and materials in its Beautiful Thinking foundation
  • Six designers and architects were tasked with creating sensory spaces using carpet fibres

Design duo He Made She Made created Shape Shift, an installation encouraging visitors to examine a series of bold, organic shapes with their hands.

‘Shape Shift pushes the viewer to enhance their sensory awareness of their environment and shift their mind into play mode,’ explains Marine Coutroutsios, one half of He Made She Made.

The spirit of play also featured in The Sleepover by The Design Residency, which was inspired by childhood adventures, dressing up and cubby houses, while architects Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke (DJRD) encouraged visitors to take refuge and relax in a series of tranquil spaces.

The Big Picture: Employers are starting to embrace a more mindful workplace, designing spaces that aid individual focus, concentration and creativity. Find out more in our market report on The Future Workplace.
