London – You can now go back 200 years in the history of design at the touch of a button. A new iPad app lets you search for 1,000 design classics.
Publishing house Phaidon has launched the Design Classics iPad Edition app with a huge scope of illustrated material. It includes the work of renowned designers such as Marcel Breuer, Jasper Morrison and Eero Saarinen, as well as everyday items including the clothes peg and the corkscrew.
Users can select objects from a timeline at the side of the screen and can access original sketches, archived photographs, patents and prototypes that have been compiled by an international panel of design-world insiders.
