Hayón’s vision of the future is bright and optimistic. The main focus of the installation is an elevated highway carved from Carrara marble, running through the entire exhibition space and supported on rounded ultramarine pillars. The language of traffic signs is simplified to include only lines and dots, creating a highly graphic and playful aesthetic, and traffic lights are re-imagined as bulbous and shiny brass lamps. Alongside the spatial installation and Citysurfer prototypes, Hayón designed a helmet and a jacket fit for the future urban driver. Overall, the aesthetic is vibrant, humorous and highly graphic, bringing together Hayón’s signature style and MINI’s unique visual cues.
