London – MA fashion student Sadie Williams presented a sci-fi-inspired collection with embossed textiles during the Central Saint Martins College MA graduate show during London Fashion Week.
Sadie developed a technique of producing geometric indents by layering three materials together and bonding them with heat. The effect creates a wonderful sense of scientific tactility and is a new play on the Embossed design direction identified by LS:N Global during Men’s Fashion Week in January.
Her design aesthetic and use of metallic fabrics also echoed themes cited in the Industrial Futurism design direction. This shows how designers are moving away from tradition and heritage, and instead opting for theatrical forms and iridescent colour palettes.
