London – Design studio Tobias Klein has exhibited Virtual Sunset, a crowdsourced, interactive installation at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Users were asked to submit their sunset images from around the globe to a website, and once uploaded, the images were geo-tagged to identify the location.
Snapshots were then projected onto PVC tubing to create a 3D ephemeral artwork. The result was that private, secluded moments were transformed into collective, sublime moments.
The experience created a globally connected space in which the light of the sunset and the digital world collided to form a live, physical environment.
This is a great example of a space being transformed into a symbiotic process of shared experiences. To find out more about symbiotic futures, come to LS:N Global’s autumn/winter 2012 Trend Briefing .
