Marseille, France – The award-winning team behind Mama Shelter have opened a second hotel in Marseille, and, to give it a unique, eclectic touch, have enlisted legendary designer Philippe Starck to create the interiors.
The interior of the Mama Shelter Marseille stands in bold contrast to many contemporary hotels, which are designed with a clean, minimalist approach. Starck has treated the surfaces like his own personal notepads, sketching and doodling on the walls, floors and ceilings of the 27 rooms with brightly coloured chalks.
There is a raw, vibrant energy in the way that Starck has approached the design, and the hand-drawn elements are an example of LS:N Global’s Scrawl Script design direction.
Starck was also recently drafted in to design the interiors of the SLS South Beach Hotel. To learn more about Starck’s collaboration with SLS, and to see more examples of Millennial Hotel designs, read our microtrend report.
