Stockholm – At the Stockholm Furniture Fair, students from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Kunstakademiets Designskole exhibited chairs that explored the flexible nature of furniture, made from raw materials such as canvas, rope and wood.
Bjarke Frederiksen says his Nordic Nomad Chair, which can be quickly assembled into a backpack, a sack, a blanket or a space for belongings, is a ‘changeable shape with adaptable functions’. Frederik Alexander Werner wound carpet around a wooden frame to create his Carpet Lounge Chair.
These designs are a great example of the temporary structures and mobile furniture seen in the Nomadic Vendors section of our Survivability macro Inspire.
