Stockholm – In the Greenhouse young designer space at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Jenk presented a folding coiled chair, a family of metal candlesticks and a copper-and-wood Welsh dresser.
The dresser is constructed from soap-treated pine and thin copper piping, which pierces dowels to secure the unit together without the need for additional adhesive.
‘I wanted to make a feature of how the piece can be self-assembled. You can also flat-pack the box. It’s low volume. These days you have to be able to offer that,’ Jenk designer Thomas Jenkins tells LS:N Global.
The aesthetic, materials and configuration of Jenk’s work are reminiscent of LS:N Global’s DIY Design It Yourself macro Inspire. As reported in our Seed on the One Nordic Furniture Company’s collection – also showing in Stockholm this week – flat-pack and self-assembly are becoming increasingly important features in product design.
