Milan – Italian product manufacturer Alessi has collaborated with second-year industrial design students at Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL) to create a series of office products with clever solutions.
The ECAL students have been faithful to the Alessi company ethos: to create functional, simple products that consumers emotionally connect with. Subtle additions to typical desk products enhance their usability, and make them more intuitive and fun to use.
To access or put away your pencils in Christophe Guberan’s Frana pencil box, the user simply has to tilt it. In the Filo, Marie Schenker has stripped the tape dispenser to its skeletal structure. Matthieu Girel’s magnetic, flying saucer-shaped Spettro is a fun yet functional paperclip holder.
Look out for other ECAL projects in LS:N Global’s comprehensive Milan report, on sale next week.
