Housing Boom: A new look to retirement homes

28 : 02 : 2011 Neo Boomers : Conviviality Culture : Future Family

Palm Springs – Boom, is a $250m development by architect Matthias Hollwich, set to open in 2012. The complex will feature striking architecture to challenge the stereotypical look of retirement communities.

Features will include the Healing Fun House, a playground designed to appeal to visiting grandchildren, and Boomers enjoying stretch exercises. There will also be a focus on the area’s creative gay community, with mentoring programmes and art studios.

By 2012, 300 Boom residences will be ready. As LS:N Global explores in our Neo Boomers report, this is a great example of how a brand should recognise that Boomers do not want to be reminded of their age.
