Eindhoven – Design collective Dutch Invertuals continues to examine future ways of living with a new exhibition, Power Play.

  • The show will be presented as part of Dutch Design Week 2016, which begins on 22 October 2016
  • The theme connecting the works on display is new applications and perceptions of energy

Taking a speculative approach, the designers imagined a series of objects and products that are designed for a world with an abundance of energy that can be used and transformed in new ways, giving each project an aesthetic and emotional rather than purely functional value. ‘Think about applications where power isn’t merely a technical unit, but could become an aesthetic element,’ proposes designer Milou Voorwinden.

Ahead of the show, the projects have been featured in campaign imagery that uses life-like digital organisms rendered in a poly-realistic aesthetic. Designed by Bastiaan de Nennie, Niels Heymans and Emilie Pallard, the entities represent a convergence of organic and technological features, and are surrounded by a surreal architectural landscape.
