Milan Salone 2016: Elemental eats

13 : 04 : 2016 The Restaurant : Tom Dixon : Arabeschi Di Latte

Milan – The Restaurant by Caeserstone and Tom Dixon aims to provide a context to show design away from the white pillars and homogenised stands typical of trade shows.

  • The exhibition comprises four conceptual kitchens based on the four elements
  • ‘We want you to take the time to slow down this year in Milan’ – Tom Dixon

The exhibition is housed inside the Rotonda della Besana, a cruciform-shaped, 17th-century chapel. Tom Dixon worked with Caeserstone quartz in varying tones and weights to create four kitchen installations inspired by each of the four elements.

The Air space draws on the aesthetics of urban architecture and is formed from delicate, vertically placed slabs and textured raw concrete.

Experimental food designers Arabeschi di Latte developed eating experiences and taste profiles that aligned to each elemental property. ‘We explored the intersection between the professional world and the domestic world,’ says Tom Dixon. ‘By creating a deconstructed restaurant, we want to create an optimum landscape for showing how the Caeserstone collection really functions.’
