Rotterdam – Senses Unfolded is the latest collection from Studio WM design duo, Wendy Legro and Maarten Collignon, which consists of three diffusers made from different materials that affect the method of diffusion.
Aer is made from glass, concrete and marble powder to create a diffuser that lets fragrance seep into the porous marble material before slowly wafting up into the air. Ventus also embraces the softer side of perfume, creating a scented breeze that is encapsulated in a glass vessel and only released when a wooden ball is moved from the vessel's opening. In contrast to the other two, Nebula takes a harder approach to diffusion, using porcelain and brass and an air pump to emit fragrances in bursts of ‘volatile mist’. Each of the diffusers examines how the form affects the way the fragrance is emitted, creating a ritualistic relationship with the equipment.
