Sweet suites: Fashion designer opens new hotel

Cartagena de Indias, Colombia- Latin American fashion designer Silvia Tcherassi has opened her first hotel on the Caribbean coast.

The Tcherassi Hotel is housed in a 250-year-old mansion. After an extensive two-year restoration and renovation, it boasts seven unique rooms and suites, bringing modern comfort to the setting of a bygone era.

Tcherassi has designed each of the rooms with fabrics from her fashion collections, including lamps made out of feathers. This is just one example of how she incorporates fashion into the hotel’s design: guests are also welcomed with Tcherassi private label his-and-hers bathrobes, as well as toiletries made with Tcherassi’s own fragrance.

The hotel also boasts a spa, a 40-seat Italian restaurant and a lounge overlooking a vertical garden with over 3,000 local plants. To read more about luxury hotels in the post-recession era, see our Luxury Market trend report.
