Right Ballance: Set celebrates delicacy of whisky

Dumbarton, Scotland – Scotch whisky producer Ballantine’s commissioned Swedish design studio Front to create a limited-edition drinking set to celebrate the ritual of drinking Ballantine’s 12-year-old Scotch. Designed by three women, the resulting copper and glass set is not a typical whisky tumbler, but a delicate, gravity-defying sculpture.

Called Ballance, the set consists of a coaster made from oak, reminiscent of ageing casks, a whisky tumbler, a miniature copper ice bucket, a shot glass for water and a copper spoon. Specially placed grooves enable the different components to be placed on top of each other in a delicate balancing act that references the ritual of creating a perfectly balanced glass of Ballantine’s.

The refined, delicate aesthetic of the set is designed to appeal to women, who are increasingly turning to whisky as a drink of choice, a new status symbol as they sip their way to success.
