The Political Objects exhibition presents a collection of design objects by 11 design companies that not only serve their purpose, but also highlight local consumption, ecological awareness and ways of supporting smaller communities by giving them a political voice. The projects include designer Yuri Suzuki’s Hand Made Geiger Counter – a response to Japan’s Fukushima Nuclear Plant incident in March 2011. Suzuki has designed a set of instructions that assist people in making their own DIY Geiger counters, to measure iodising radiation in the air.

In the Anarconomy Decade, in which rebellious attitudes are rejecting compromise, LS:N Global is witnessing the rise of designers seeking to create change, and to stimulate or educate through design.

Look out for LS:N Global’s forthcoming Clerkenwell Design Week 2011 review.
