Milan – London design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby will unveil an intuitively designed chair at Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile later this month.
The chair’s name, Tip Ton, hints at the dual functionality of this minimally styled, stackable chair. A 6.5-degree tilt, created by the chair’s floor skids, allows two sitting positions – resting and forward-leaning.
The forward tilt is designed to straighten the pelvis and spine, and improve blood flow. ‘We realised that creating dynamic movement in a chair can help a person’s concentration because it increases oxygen flow around the body,’ says Jay Osgerby. Tip Ton is made from 100% recyclable polypropylene, weighs 4.5kg and requires no maintenance.
LS:N Global will be attending Milan Design Week and will report from the shows. In the meantime, look out for our forthcoming Milan Design Week preview.
