Paris – A theatre first opened in 1862 is to be turned into a modern digital arts museum. La Gaîté Lyrique, which will open in spring 2011, will produce, host and broadcast concerts, talks, screenings, performances, exhibitions, interviews and workshops.
It will also include an interactive gaming space with consoles and screens and a resource centre providing information on contemporary music and digital arts.
To reflect the venue’s history as a theatre, La Gaîté Lyrique artistic director Jérome Delormas approached animator Yves Geleyn to create a film that draws on baroque theatre and Japanese Kabuki influences.
