A space for stillness

14 : 03 : 2017 Satori : Mental Health : Meditation

London – Satori is a new magazine dedicated to improving readers’ mental wellbeing.

  • The magazine aims to build a community of people with different religious, cultural and scholarly beliefs
  • All proceeds will be donated to charities The Calm Zone and The Meditation Trust

Satori was founded by Duncan Woods and Seb Camilleri as a platform to tackle anxiety, stress and depression through inspiring visuals and articles.

‘When we feel anxious or stressed, it helps to pick up a book or listen to an interesting talk,’ Woods explains to LS:N Global. ‘Something that pulls you out of your recurring thought patterns and offers a new way of seeing things.’

Issue one is called The Stillness Issue and features a number of pieces by acclaimed writers including Oliver Burkeman, Dan Millman and Elisha Goldstein. All proceeds from the issue will be donated to charities The Calm Zone and The Meditation Trust.

‘In these times of building walls, hard-Brexits and mass consumerism, we believe that a platform that brings people from different backgrounds and disciplines together, challenges them to be more open, and provides a quiet moment to touch, think and feel is more important than ever,’ says Woods.

The Big Picture

New initiatives are emerging that offer a more nuanced approach to discussing mental health and wellbeing. Anxy is a new magazine that aims to tackle stigmas around mental illness.
