Work in process

23 : 02 : 2017 Burberry : London Fashion Week : Luxury

London – Burberry is hosting an exhibition at Makers House dedicated to the work of Henry Moore.

  • The exhibition includes the new Burberry collection and more than 40 sculptures and works by Henry Moore
  • Running until 27 February, the exhibition highlights how the artist’s work and creative process inspired the collection

Set across two floors, the exhibition is a showcase for all of the womenswear and menswear pieces of the Burberry February 2017 collection, as well as a large body of Henry Moore’s work.

With a particular focus on working methods and creative processes, the exhibition includes drawings, found objects and large-scale sculptures from Moore, as well as an inspiration room from Burberry. It also includes a collection of 78 Burberry couture capes directly inspired by the scale and form of Moore's work.

‘Moore’s work on display will be a shining example of the creativity and enormous contribution he made to the development of contemporary art,’ said Burberry’s president and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey. ‘I’m excited to be showing our February collection alongside the remarkable work that inspired it.’

The exhibition, which runs until 27 February, will host a programme of events, acoustic performances and workshops throughout, and follows the success of the brand’s show at Makers House last season.

The Big Picture

By launching a fashion collection with a retrospective of the art that inspired it, luxury brands are offering opportunities for consumers to immerse themselves in the creative process. For more, see the Louis Vuitton Series 3 Activate report.
