Plane hospitality: Airbnb offers a place to stay on the runway

18 : 11 : 2014 AirBnB : KLM Royal Dutch Airline : Symbiotic Branding

Amsterdam – First Airbnb offered people the chance to stay in an Ikea store, then there was the Waterstones sleepover, now the crowdsourcing hospitality company is putting up guests on a decommissioned passenger jet.

As part of its Night At social campaign, the unique listing on the Airbnb website invites guests to stay on board the converted KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passenger plane at Amsterdam Schiphol airport for a night on 28, 29 or 30 November.

For a chance to win, prospective guests must explain in 100 words why they should be the ones to spend a night on the plane using the hashtag #NightAt.

The interior has been redesigned by Amsterdam-based interior design and branding firm Tank to accommodate passengers in a different way, using an open-plan living space complete with sofas, a double bed and a dining area. But don’t expect the makeshift hotel to afford stunning views along with its quirky design as the plane will remain firmly on the tarmac for the duration of the stay.
